Polymarket Withdrawal Guide: How to Cash Out Your Winnings

April 12, 2026 · PolyMath Team · 7 min read

You've won a position on Polymarket — congratulations. Now you want to actually get that money into your bank account. Polymarket pays out in USDC, a USD-pegged stablecoin, so there are a few steps between your winning position and your fiat dollars.

This guide walks you through the entire process: from withdrawing USDC from Polymarket, to converting it to fiat, to common pitfalls that slow people down. The whole process typically takes 30 minutes to a few hours depending on your exchange.

New to Polymarket?

Before cashing out, you need an account. Polymarket is available to non-US users only.

Before You Withdraw: What You Need

Polymarket is a crypto-native platform. Withdrawals go to a crypto wallet — there's no direct bank transfer option. You'll need:

  • A crypto wallet — MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, or any Polygon-compatible wallet. Your Polymarket account is already linked to a wallet.
  • A crypto exchange account — Coinbase, Kraken, or Binance (depending on your country) to convert USDC to fiat and withdraw to your bank.
  • A small amount of MATIC — Polymarket runs on Polygon (a Layer 2 network). Gas fees are paid in MATIC and are typically under $0.10, but you need some.

Step 1 — Wait for Market Resolution

Polymarket markets resolve after the event outcome is determined. Once resolved, winning positions are automatically credited to your Polymarket balance in USDC. You'll see the balance in your account dashboard at polymarket.com/profile.

Resolution usually happens within 24-48 hoursof the event outcome being known. For some markets, it can take up to a week if there's ambiguity in the resolution criteria.

Step 2 — Withdraw USDC to Your Wallet

Once your USDC balance is available:

  1. Go to your Polymarket profile and click Withdraw.
  2. Enter the amount you want to withdraw and your destination wallet address. If you're using MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet, copy your wallet address from there.
  3. Confirm the transaction in your wallet. You'll need a small amount of MATIC for the gas fee (typically < $0.05).
  4. The USDC will arrive in your wallet within 1-5 minutes on the Polygon network.

⚠️ Important: Polygon Network

Polymarket runs on Polygon, not Ethereum mainnet. Make sure your destination wallet is set to the Polygon network — not Ethereum. Sending to an Ethereum address on the wrong network can result in lost funds.

Step 3 — Bridge to Ethereum (Optional)

If your exchange (e.g., Coinbase) only accepts USDC on Ethereum mainnet, you'll need to bridge your Polygon USDC to Ethereum first. You can skip this step if your exchange accepts Polygon USDC directly (Kraken and Binance both do).

To bridge from Polygon to Ethereum:

  1. Visit the official Polygon Bridge at wallet.polygon.technology.
  2. Connect your wallet and select USDC to bridge to Ethereum mainnet.
  3. Confirm the transaction — bridging takes 7-30 minutes and costs ETH gas fees (typically $5-$20 depending on network congestion).

Tip: For smaller amounts, bridging gas fees can eat a significant chunk. Consider batching withdrawals — wait until you have a larger balance before bridging.

Step 4 — Send USDC to Your Exchange

Now transfer your USDC to a centralized exchange to sell for fiat. The top options:

Coinbase

  • ✓ Accepts USDC on both Ethereum and Polygon networks
  • ✓ US-friendly, FDIC-insured USD balances
  • ✓ Easy USD bank withdrawal (ACH, wire)
  • ✗ Higher trading fees (~1.5% for small conversions)

Go to your Coinbase account → Receive → select USDC → choose the correct network (Polygon or Ethereum) → copy the deposit address → send from your wallet.

Kraken

  • ✓ Accepts USDC on Polygon directly (no bridging needed)
  • ✓ Lower fees than Coinbase (~0.2% taker)
  • ✓ SEPA and SWIFT wire withdrawals
  • ✗ Slightly more complex interface

Kraken is often the cheapest path if you're outside the US — deposit USDC on Polygon (no bridge), sell for EUR/GBP/USD, then withdraw via SEPA or wire.

Step 5 — Convert USDC to Fiat and Withdraw to Bank

Once your USDC arrives on your exchange:

  1. Sell/convert USDC to your local currency (USD, EUR, GBP, etc.)
  2. Navigate to Withdraw → Bank Transfer
  3. Select your method:
    • ACH (US) — free, 1-3 business days
    • SEPA (Europe) — low fee, 1-2 business days
    • Wire transfer — faster, $10-25 fee
  4. Confirm and wait for funds to arrive in your bank account

Gas Fees and Total Costs

Here's a typical cost breakdown for a $500 withdrawal:

StepCostNotes
Polymarket withdrawal (Polygon)< $0.05Polygon gas is very cheap
Bridge Polygon → Ethereum$5-$20Skip if exchange accepts Polygon
Exchange USDC depositFreeMost exchanges don't charge
USDC → USD conversion0.1-1.5%Depends on exchange; Kraken cheapest
Bank withdrawal (ACH)FreeWire: $10-25

Total cost for a $500 Polygon-only withdrawal (via Kraken): roughly $1-$5. If you need to bridge to Ethereum via Coinbase, add $10-20 for the bridge fee.

Tax Considerations

Note: This is general information, not tax advice. Consult a tax professional for your situation.

In most jurisdictions, prediction market winnings are treated as taxable income or capital gains. Key points to be aware of:

  • US persons: US residents are prohibited from using Polymarket. If you're a non-US user trading legally, follow your local tax rules.
  • Record keeping: Track your entry prices, exit prices, and dates. Most exchanges provide downloadable transaction history for tax reporting.
  • USDC is pegged to USD: Converting USDC to fiat typically does not trigger a taxable event on its own — but local laws vary.
  • Use crypto tax software: Tools like Koinly, CoinTracker, or Coinbase's built-in reports can auto-import your trades and generate tax forms.

Common Issues and Troubleshooting

USDC sent to wrong network

If you sent Polygon USDC to an Ethereum address on the wrong network, the funds may appear missing. Check if your exchange supports recovering cross-network deposits — Coinbase and Kraken sometimes do for a fee. Always double-check the network before sending.

Transaction stuck pending

Polygon transactions rarely get stuck, but if they do, check polygonscan.com with your wallet address. If the transaction shows as failed, you may need to retry. Make sure you have enough MATIC for gas.

No MATIC for gas fees

Polymarket occasionally provides a small MATIC airdrop for new users to cover initial gas. If you're out of MATIC, you can buy a small amount ($1-2 worth) on Coinbase or use a faucet to get test amounts, then use the official Polygon bridge to transfer it to mainnet.

Exchange deposit not arriving

Deposits typically require blockchain confirmations before they credit. Polygon usually requires 200 confirmations (~5 minutes). If it's been over 30 minutes, check your deposit address was correct and contact exchange support with the transaction hash from polygonscan.com.
